Happy New Year

Thank you all for your kind words about Pointdexter. There is a definite emptiness, that feeling that something is missing. I know what it is: my excuse for sitting on the couch reading or knitting for hours on end with Pointdexter cuddled on my lap or warming my neck with his sprawled body on the couch back. The other cats aren't nearly as inclined to give me that excuse, unasked. Here is Thomas in his preferred snoozing spot. Yeah, not enough room on my lap for him to stretch out like this.

And now for my little secret, that I have been avoiding blogging about, for fear of jinxing it. I'm going on vacation. Without kids, or husband. Question: does it still count as a vacation if you're travelling with your mother? She is footing the bill. See that? Have passport, shall travel.
I'm going home. To Poland. For a month. Leaving in three weeks. I haven't been back in over 14 years. Last time I needed a Visa to even get into Poland since it was still under communist rule. I'm starting to get a little excited.

Poland...Cool! A fellow I work with goes there (it's his former home too) nearly each year.

What a sweet picture of kitty. Sending you hugs and support.

Re: The Hunger Games. Not too much gore at all..more fast-paced story with a great plot.

So sorry about Poindexter. It just sucks when pets die.

But Poland! Wow! And free! Even better! That sounds so amazing. My friend and her husband spent a month travelling around Poland and that area a few years ago on an "ancestral tour." They loved it. They even went to St. Petersburg.

So sorry about Poindexter. It's so hard to lose a pet, especially a young one.

I have a book you need to read. it's called Pears on a Willow Tree, and it's about Polish American immigrants. I discovered it when I was working on my master's thesis. It was a really easy read, and I'll bet that anyone with a Polish heritage would enjoy it.

How are the gift knits coming? Anything done yet? Are you too excited for the trip to knit?

Hi again.

I highly recommend getting your eyeballs lasered. I found it gross, but not as bad as I had expected.

Oh, and a warning ... the worse your eyes are, the more expensive it is. And because my eyes were so bad, I have to have them retouched because they can't predict what your new prescription will be after it fully heals. But I knew all that beforehand, and I'm still happy with it.

It most definitely counts as vacation! I used to travel with my mother and we always had a blast.

I hope you have a fantastic time!
